My PT Philosophy

My physical therapy philosophy blends three key ideas:

  1. The biomechanics of human running are complex and should be considered in rehabilitation to protect injured areas.

  2. Pain is produced only by the nervous system, not damaged tissue. The foundation of rehabilitation is to help your nervous system re-regulate, while also restoring tissue capacity.

  3. Rehabilitation and injury prevention for dedicated runners must involve conversation about training and lifestyle, not just therapy exercises.

For decades, explanations of pain have focused heavily on biomechanics. For example: “Your knee hurts because your hip and quad are weak, causing your knee to turn in and putting extra pressure on the joint.” Research and clinical experience have shown me that explanation isn’t enough. And nowhere in that sentence is pain actually explained.

I’ve seen runners stretch and strengthen with discipline, hoping that just a little more strength or flexibility will eventually give them relief. But many don’t even understand their pain, how to adjust their training, or how to judge progress. I've seen this confusion stall recovery, create frustration and anxiety, and chip away at confidence.

In my practice, I aim to make your rehabilitation more complete. Every runner has unique risks for injury and feels pain differently - you need to understand those for long-term success. While not every injury is preventable, I hope to help you learn how to stay out of therapy and keep you running better.

Hello! I’m Brandon.

I’m a Doctor of Physical Therapy and running coach on a mission to help runners overcome pain, improve their running, and ultimately gain the knowledge and tools to stay out of therapy. I’m passionate about the health benefits of running and exercise, and I strive to help build a healthier, stronger running community.

After several years working in traditional clinics, I realized most runners don’t need more appointments — they need better guidance, better context, and a plan that actually fits how they train. That’s why I started this practice. To give runners a simpler, more empowering path forward.
